Details:

It was pushing 50 degrees celsius (122 fahrenheit) on this August day in Death Valley, California

We were in the right place at the right time. Planning helps, but there is luck involved in a shot like this one.

 

A big storm was coming over the mountains, and in front of it, with the change of wind, came a dust storm... and being at sunset it was perfect for photography.
